About the project

Sports Community is a mobile application designed to facilitate the organization of football and basketball games between enthusiasts.

Developed for BGroup, it addresses a real need: allowing users to easily create or join sports events, while taking into account participant reliability.

My role covered the entire UX/UI design process: user research, journey mapping, wireframe and prototype creation, followed by the final visual design.

As an amateur player myself, I was able to contribute with a perspective rooted in real user needs.

The Problem

Many football enthusiasts face a simple yet frustrating issue: finding teammates available to play. WhatsApp or Messenger groups quickly become chaotic, with no clear commitment, and last-minute cancellations are common.

01

Hard to gather enough players

Finding teammates to organize a football or basketball game is often complicated. Discussions are scattered across multiple groups, confirmations are lacking, and there’s no visibility on who will actually show up.

02

Lack of commitment and organization

Unjustified absences disrupt the games, frustrate other players, and eventually discourage regular organizers.

03

No reliability system

There’s no way to distinguish reliable users from others, making event planning unstable and unpredictable.

Solution

The app allows users to create an event in just a few seconds, send targeted invitations, and automate confirmations. Once registered, participants are held accountable: by showing up, they earn points; by canceling at the last minute, they lose some.

account creation

User profiles include a reliability score, visible to others. An intelligent system suggests potential participants based on their attendance history.

Event creation

The experience was designed around three key principles:

  • Ease of organization for the event creator (quick setup + smooth management)

  • Social engagement through a reputation system that highlights reliable users

  • Friendly and sporty aesthetics, with a smooth mobile-first navigation

Design Process

01

User Research

I started with field research, including informal interviews, observations of local WhatsApp groups, and a survey with amateur players.
As an amateur player myself, I could directly relate to the frustrations of organizing matches: lack of reliability, wasted time, scattered communication…
These personal experiences helped me ground my reflections in real, concrete needs, strengthening the relevance of UX choices from the early stages.

02

Defining User Flows and Roles

Based on the collected insights, I identified two main user profiles:

  • Organizer: wants to create a match quickly, invite the right people, and avoid no-shows.

  • Participant: looks for open matches nearby, with a serious and reliable group.

I then mapped their typical flows (user journeys) using FigJam to clarify every critical step.

03

Wireframes & Prototypes

I designed low-fidelity wireframes in Figma to quickly validate the screen structure. Special attention was given to match creation, the event page, and the clarity of the point system.

04

Testing & Iterations

Interactive prototypes were tested with users from the target audience. Based on their feedback, I refined the visual hierarchy, streamlined certain steps (e.g., match confirmation), and enhanced visual feedback (such as point status and invitation status).

05

Final UI Design

A sporty, modern, and accessible visual identity was defined. The screens are clear, dynamic, and easy to use with one hand. The design adapts to both covered sports disciplines.
